Performing automated tests using RSAT

The Microsoft Regression Suite Automation Tool (RSAT) helps automate business process testing, such as testing prior to periodic application updates from Microsoft, testing prior to deploying custom software customizations, or during the implementation itself.

With the cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution, Microsoft regularly deploys updates under the One Version banner that bring the latest features and improve specific areas of the system. Regular updates help your team increase productivity with new features and improve operations with the necessary fixes. Microsoft forwards these updates to a test environment, where testing typically follows to verify that all features and customizations are working effectively, before updating the production environment.

This testing process can be lengthy and costly if done manually. But it doesn't have to be the case. Your company can reduce costs and increase efficiency by automating the entire verification process with the Microsoft Regression Suite Automation Tool (RSAT).

RSAT helps in automating the above-mentioned tests. The aim of the tool is to significantly reduce the time and cost associated with the testing process.

Using the task recorder integrated in Microsoft Dynamics 365, experienced users can record routine business processes without having to write any code. This recording is then fully utilized by RSAT to create a test case, which users build into a complete automated test as needed.

RSAT is fully integrated with the Microsoft Azure DevOps portal, Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS) and Business Process Modeler (BPM).

It will provide you with a complete set of tools needed to create test cases, execute them, report results and analyse them in detail. For each test, you can define test parameters that are stored in Microsoft Excel tables in the application background.

In addition to testing processes recorded using Task Recorder in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, RSAT also supports Cloud POS process testing for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce and warehouse application testing for the Warehouse Management module. For these, however, you must use RSAT in combination with the Warehouse App Task Validation Framework.
