Initial situation and objectives of the project

Simoldes Plasticos Czech s.r.o. found itself in a situation where the warranty on its servers, storage and network elements was expiring. It was therefore necessary to upgrade the infrastructure to ensure its long-term operation and flexible adaptation to future needs.

The company's original intention was to procure the entire infrastructure as an HPE GreenLake service, which would cover both servers and storage. However, after consideration, the company decided on a hybrid approach - acquiring the servers as an investment, while the storage will be used as an HPE service with flexible monthly payments.

The long-standing relationship between Simoldes Plasticos and Aricoma played a key role in choosing this solution, which is also commonly used at other Simoldes Plasticos sites across Europe. Thanks to HPE's proactive approach, we also met the customer's price expectations.

Solution Description

Aricoma designed and implemented the new HPE Primera A630 storage array as a GreenLake service, allowing Simoldes Plasticos to leverage a flexible model with the ability to expand capacity incrementally. This minimized the cash flow burden through monthly payments. The hybrid approach included the acquisition of HPE DL380 servers as an investment that provided stability for the operation of key systems. HPE StoreFabric SN1200E FC switches were deployed to connect all components.

The implementation took place within one month in October and November 2023, without any complications. Simoldes Plasticos was actively involved in all phases, promoting effective collaboration between the teams. Upon completion of the project, the customer expressed complete satisfaction and particularly appreciated the flexibility and the possibility of expanding the storage capacity according to current needs.
